QITCOM 2019 is showcasing innovative and various technologies by creating a knowledge-sharing platform and mobile application for technology providers, policy-makers, industry experts and thought-leaders.

Qatar IT Conference and Exhibition (QITCOM) is the country’s largest informational and communicational technology event. It is hosted every 2 years under the patronage of His Highness, the Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The event showcases the latest innovations, developments, and discussions in technology, encouraging startup businesses and entrepreneurs to participate in the conversation.In 2019, the theme of the event was “Safe Smart Cities,” focusing on an exploration of how to enhance daily life using smart technology. Applab developed and managed the QITCOM portal, QITCOM mobile application, and Smart City Doha , as well as updated content daily within the conference time frame.

Highlights

One of the highlighted features of both events’ online presence was live streaming and the live chatbot. Applab integrated this feature in both the website and the app, providing easy and quick access from the landing page. Live streaming was considered a gateway to widening the scope of the event, allowing those who weren’t able to attend physically to benefit from and engage with the innovative ideas coming from the event. The live chatbot was a way to enhance attendees’ experience in the event by having their questions and inquiries answered in real time.

The portal and mobile applications (both iOS and Android) featured the agenda of the entire conference, including exhibition timings and activities in entrepreneurship, TumuhaTEC, and many others. Mobile application users were also able to add events and activities into the calendar which was built into the app.
Another highlighted feature of QITCOM was the B2B Matchmaking area. One of QITCOM’s aims was to create a dedicated area where businesses, sponsors, investors, and more could meet and discuss new ideas and collaborations. In the 2019 event, this feature was integrated into the mobile application for the event which allowed the rooms to be efficiently bookable, facilitating both the arranged meetings and the walk-in registrations.
